Tariff Commission launches World Trade Directory

Bangladesh Tariff Commission (BTC) announces with pleasure the launching of the electronic version of ”World Trade Directory (WTD): Bangladesh”. Hon'ble Commerce Minister Mr. Ghulam Muhammed Quader, MP has launched online WTD on 14 July, 2012. BTC has developed the WTD containing economic and trade related information of 161 countries including bilateral trade relation between these countries and Bangladesh. The countries include all WTO Members (except Montenegro & Vanuatu) and Non-WTO members of Afghanistan, Belarus, Bhutan, Iran, Lao PDR and Uzbekistan. The objective of compiling this directory is to facilitate receipt of trade-related information, activities related to export-import and other international business.

Businessmen require data and updated information for doing successful business. Keeping this objective in mind, initiatives have been taken to furnish the directory with global trade related information with a view to providing tailor-made services towards the traders to build up their own business networks utilizing this rich database. This directory will be useful to establish meaningful connectivity between exporters and importers in order to increase volume and pattern of business as well.

In the back drop of ever changing world economic order, there is a dire need for global business-to-business information. The World Trade Directory published by Bangladesh Tariff Commission is a sort of one-stop website where buyers, sellers, distributors, importers, exporters, service providers and other stakeholders may find valuable information as per their requirements to arrive at a judicious conclusion.

It is mentionable that BTC has no intention to produce hard copy of this document, Since the trade related inputs and global perspectives are ever changing and the directory is needed to be updated on regular basis. So, BTC find it useless to produce this document in hardcopy form.
